About

"Chip has got to be number one on my list of technical professionals who I would want to work with again in my career. Always knowledgeable and competent, Chip engages a room when he presents with his calm demeanor and logical approach to addressing a problem, even in the midst of escalating emotions in the room..."

About Me

I am a technical architect and strategist; an experienced information security specialist focused on application layer security; as well as a seasoned manager of software development projects and teams.

I have worked with leading managed IT services, financial services, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing firms to drive demonstrable improvements in their organizations through technological innovation. In addition to corporate clients, I have worked in this same capacity with various federal government departments and agencies.

My work has been prominently noted in publications such as Bloomberg Wealth Magazine and has received industry recognition such as Computerworld's Premier Case Studies for 2004.

I am a recognized leader in the information security field. I attained the SANS GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) certification in April of 2004, obtaining the certification at the Gold level and becoming only the 576th person to receive this certification. As part of that process, I published a paper describing the use of the SSLSniff man-in-the-middle tool within a help desk environment. I am also a member of Information Systems Security Association (ISSA).

My management experience for software development includes leading and managing geographically dispersed teams that range in size from two to twenty engineers.  In addition to team and project level management, I have developed and deployed structured software development methodologies within two organizations.

If you feel that your organization could benefit from my skills and experience, please don't hesitate to contact me using one of the methods listed here.

About This Site

So what is this site? It's a dumping ground for everything that I feel like sharing with the world - regardless of its actual worth to the world. Everyone should have a dumping ground for their life in the Interweb. This is mine.

It's a shame that the finger protocol is no longer in vogue, because I keep my plan up to date on sakima.ivy.net (A linux box that a friend runs for some of us to use as a "home-base").

Most of this site's content is licenced under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.5 License, but not all of it. I don't know if or why someone would want to use the content of this site for anything other than an example of "what a self-important Interweb homepage looks like", but why not provide a copyright agreement for it. On the other hand, my resume is not licensed... I'm reserving all rights to that particular document. You can tell what the licence to each page's content is by checking at the bottom for the licence type.
